Zero, November 5: National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Govt. India’s Chief Executive Dr. Suvarna Chandrappagari visited Lower Subansiri district on Friday to assess the progress of the schemes implemented under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMSY) and Blue Revolution (BR) 2021-22.
The chief executive visited several fish ponds and beneficiaries’ farms in Yazali, Yachulu and Ziro-I districts, talked with farmers and expressed his satisfaction with the successful implementation of various schemes. He visited progressive farmer Tage Richo’s Recreational Fishing Center at Pare-Ami, built with financial assistance from PMMSY. The farmers who participated in the event asked the head of the executive to increase the financial assistance from the government. India bringing a fisheries revolution in the state.
Dr. Suvarna Chandrappagari recently visited another progressive farmer Likha Kami’s fish farm-cum-eco-tourism center at Cath village under Yachuli district and was impressed by the farm covering 2.5 hectares of water. the main tourist center of the place. Dr. Suvarna emphasized on adoption of intensive aquaculture and scientific farming techniques to double farmers’ incomes from unit area and productivity.
The head of the executive also visited the field of rice-fish culture in Ziro and talked with farmers. Currently, 1,400 hectares of land in the Ziro valley is under rice-fish culture. Later, he also visited the proposed site of Integrated Aqua Park at Tarin Regional High Altitude Fish Seed Farm. The farm manager presented the details of the activities to be carried out and their scope. He suggested the department to work out every detail accurately before starting the work to avoid cost escalation and assured his support and cooperation for the successful implementation of the project.
NFDB Chief Executive Officer was accompanied by Director Fisheries J. Taba, officials of fisheries department and In-charge of NFDB-North East Regional Center Guwahati AK Borah. (DIPRO)
