Wait a minute… a pest control company made STEM programs for kids? What is THIS about?

What you thought you knew about public health protection has evolved. We are not destroyers. It is a representation of the past when everything revolved around chemicals. Being a pest control professional today involves science, technology, chemistry, math, psychology, and the interpersonal skills to find a healthy balance between people and nature. Sounds pretty STEM-my, right? πŸ€“

Influence

For several years now, Rose’s Bug Girls has been making an impact in the communities we serve through educational school visits, Girl Scout programs, summer camp activities, and various sports and museum partner projects. We love sharing our passion for science and environmental health with people of all ages. We have so much fun in the process that the kids don’t even realize they are learning valuable information for their lives!

Super Heroes in Training

Public Health is VITAL to our well-being and food supply. We need more public health superheroes in this world to make sure disease doesn’t happen! In this way, we educate children (and re-educate adults) about all the important scientific knowledge that goes into careers in public and environmental health. And it is AWESOME.

Girl Scout Spark Days

Did you know that only 7% of pest control professionals in the country are women? 32% of our employees at Rose are women! We think it’s the bees knees. Rose partnered with Girl Scouts of Chicagoland and Greater Northwest Indiana a year ago to create a program that allows Girl Scouts to explore all the different careers associated with our industry. Girls love bugs too, you know!

Rose and her sister, Franklin Pest Solutions, hold two Spark Days each year where 30 Brownies and Junior spend several hours doing a variety of hands-on activities such as Entomologist, Beekeeper, Pest Control Specialist, Marketing Specialist. Customer Service Representative etc.

Healthier Together

We are very grateful to all the neighbors and friends we have made through these programs. Support means the world to us. Every child (and parent) will walk away from one of these visits knowing more about the natural world around them than they thought. And it’s super cool.
